Don’t Allow Your Body to Control You

ImageOften times people fall victim to their body by following through with some of their body’s bad compulsions and desires. For example, lets say you decide to go on a diet in order to lose weight for the betterment of your health. One day during your diet, you body gives you an urge to have a large amount of junk food in order to satisfy your large cravings because of the diet; hours after fighting that strong urge, you finally give in and allow your body to have its way despite the fact that you are on a diet. You may be asking yourself “why would my body do such a thing to me?” The reason why your body does this is because of the fact that it is trying to maintain homeostasis within your body which basically is Imageyour body’s internal state of chemical balance. By having poor eating habits, or any other poor habits for that matter, you are causing your body to function at level that goes with your habitual behavior. If your body isn’t being satisfied chemically wise,as a result of you straying from your normal habits, it will constantly send signals to your brain trying to convince it to allow your body to have it their way, so it can maintain it’s chemical balance . This is why it can be so hard to break a bad habit that is ingrained into you. The good news is that if you continue to fight your body’s urges and desires, your body will eventually give in and set a new level of chemical balance for your body, but you must consistently ignore your body’s urges if you want this to happen. So what are you waiting for?!! Go out there and break some of your bad habits. Your life will change for the better.

Did You Know?

You may be wondering why Einstein’s brain is smaller than average. This is due to the fact that our brains shrink the further we go into aging after our early 20’s ( the approximate time the brain stops growing). This does not mean that we become dumber as time progresses since our brains’ are getting smaller. The brain still functions sharply well into old age as long one takes good care of it, like Einstein. What separates Einstein’s brain from everybody else’s is the large amount of glial cells he had which was greater than the average amount of glial cells in a person’s brain. These glial cells not only provide support for neurons, but they also encourage the growth and prosperity of synapses between neurons. On top of this, glial cells also allow the connection between neurons to become stronger. Einstein’s large number of glial cells allowed him to comprehend and think about very difficult concepts that were very challenging to the average brain. Food for thought.

Our Thoughts Can Either Make Us or Break Us

It’s amazing how much of an impact our very own thoughts can have on our own well being in life. Did you know that every time you think of any thought, no matter how small it may be, your brain creates various chemicals that correspond with that thought which in turn has a direct effect not only on your mental state, but also your body? For example, lets say you start thinking negative when you’re doing some really tough math homework. Your negative thoughts will have a direct effect on your ability to do math at that moment, and if your brain isn’t in the mood, as a result of doubting your abilities, neither will your body be either. Research has proven that being fearful or having negative thoughts towards something inhibits our neurons from firing at their full potential. One thing that really separates successful people from unsuccessful people is their thoughts. Successful people tend to think positive thoughts while unsuccessful people tend to think negative thoughts. What ever path of thoughts you decide to take in your life, your brain will ultimately prove you right. If you continue to say that you “hate math” and  that your “just not cut out to do math” then your brain will prove you right. This applies to anything you try to do in your life. Buddha once said,  “We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”  Please remember that at the end of the day, your thoughts can have a tremendous impact on your life, so be wary of the kinds of thoughts you allow to linger in the depths of your mind.
